“Nintendo Music” for clarinet and piano

A new work for clarinet and piano, Nintendo Music has recently been completed for the Australian clarinettist, Andrew Harper.

Commissioned by Ars Musica Australis, this six minute work uses aspects of music typical of that written for platform games on the Nintendo Entertainment System. The physical limitations of this video game system led to a quite distinctive style of music being written to accompany these games, and some common characteristics of such music can be found in this work.

This work will soon be recorded by Andrew Harper upon his return to Australia from the U.K.

  1. Cool.. I hope I can get a chance to play it someday, it would be the hotest clarinet piece around and have an audience of 10 yr olds for a change..

  2. ahhh… can i get the notes i’d really like to try it out..

i figured something like the victory song from Final Fantasy would sound nice on clarinet

  3. Dear Sophie and the other guys,

You should be able to order Nintendo Music from any music shop, or else from Faber Music directly if you are in the UK.

Bear in mind that it’s a VERY difficult piece. Probably L.Mus. (diploma level).

    Matthew
