The “bright young stars” of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship programme will be performing Little Chrissietina’s Magic Fantasy (2 violin version) in a concert as part of their Contemporary Music Festival 2005.

More details are available at the above link, but the concert is on Sunday 10 July 2005 at 7pm, in the Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Also performed in this very interesting festival are Messiaen’s From the Canyons to the Stars and the premiere of a new piano concerto by Michael Smetanin, with soloist Lisa Moore.

New work, “Didjeribluegrass”

A new work for didjeridu and string quartet, entitled Didjeribluegrass has been completed for 2005 the Australian Chamber Music Festival with financial support from The Australia Council.

It will be performed by William Barton and the Fyra Quartet on their western tour of Queensland from 25 June 2005, and then in Townsville on 4 July 2005.

Didjeribluegrass is a fast, up-tempo work that involves an element of improvisation for the didjeridu player. It is approximately 8 minutes in length.
